The remodeling of this ocean-facing lounge, a longtime guest favorite, was part of a larger, long-term revamp of one of the Big Island's classic resorts. The formerly dark space was opened up to beach views. Crisp modern lines were given warmth with copper-colored accents and selections from the hotel's large collection of Asian antiques.

After a 2006 fire, the complex was rebuilt with the goal of freshening up the look while maintaining a connection to the winery's rich heritage. The new 68,000 SF facility includes hospitality, administration, production and utility buildings. Downtown SF births Uccello, a lounge in San Francisco’s Conservatory of Music, Bowes Center. It is a stage for dining and drinking accompanied by growing music talents of the country. Intended to be a restaurant, cocktail lounge and music venue; it is designed with flexibility that allows its guests to have a full music & dining experience.
Anchoring the bar are acoustic integrated decorative pendants creating a focal point in the dining room. While the bar shelving is up-lit by an illuminated panel that emphasizes the array of wine and liquor selection. More linear architectural lighting elements add an extra layer of light in the space, accenting components of the interiors and creating depth. This includes feature walls and vertical surfaces.
The ceiling mimics and matches the curvilinear character of sound waves; while pendant lights complement the form and function of the design approach. The placement & distribution of filament lamps through the space represents the dynamic character of musical notes on a music sheet – leaning towards a more vibrant & playful lighting design concept.

Flour + Water was recently listed on Wine Enthusiast's 50 best Restaurants. The lighting aimed to highlight the complimentary features of the architecture's simple and classic palette, while telling a story of the food, its origins & history.
Perimeter lighting grazes trowel lines on plaster walls which evoke the texture of pasta. Suspended pendants were handpicked to capture the characteristics of dough- a primary ingredient of the restaurant. Through the use of decorative lighting, we provide another layer of ambient light and strengthen the narrative of the space.
We are happy to bring new light to the space!
